What are virulent T cells?
Cytotoxic T cells (English: cytotoxic T cells, TC or CTL, referred to as cytotoxic T cells), also known as killer T cells (killer T cells), TC cells, cytotoxic T cells, or CD8+ T cells, are a type of T cells , can kill cancer cells, virus-infected cells, and other damaged cells. Cytotoxic T cells are members of the acquired immune system. When their killing activity begins to manifest, the activity of NK cells belonging to the innate immune system will gradually decrease. Most cytotoxic T cells express the T cell receptor (TCR), which recognizes specific antigens, often made by cancer cells and viruses. Intracellular antigens bind to type 1 MHC molecules and are brought to the cell surface for recognition by T cells.
Once a T cell recognizes a specific antigen through the T cell receptor, it destroys the cell. Some T-cell receptors contain a glycoprotein called CD8 that binds to MHC1-like molecules, so these cells are also known as CD8+ T cells. CD8 T cells that bind to type 1 MHC molecules will develop into cytotoxic T cells, and CD8 molecules will continue to hold firmly to type 1 MHC molecules, preventing the target cells from leaving for cytotoxicity.
